Chocolate Rocket

My apologies for the lack of recent posting. I’ll be sure to get back on track, or Captain K will demote me to Officer, and Officer L just doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.

Now, back to tea.

Today’s object of admiration: Chocolate Rocket. K actually gave me this tea as a birthday present, and she craftily presented it in a fabulous Starbucks tumbler. Unfortunately, now everything that I drink out of that tumbler tastes like this tea – lemonade, water, juice, you name it, they all taste suspiciously like chocolate. Moral of the story: Don’t store tea in anything but these handy-dandy tea tins. The Perfect Tea Tin

Now, K cares for me very very much, so she made sure to get me only the chocolati-est tea she could find. It features chocolate, raspberries, chocolate, Brazilian maté, chocolate, almonds and – you guessed it – chocolate. To be honest, I can barely taste the raspberry; the dominant flavours are definitely chocolate and almond. I also found that it has seaweedy (?) notes that can be unpleasant, but I get the feeling that this is simply because I am unused to the maté, which, by the way, gives the drinker crazy energy. This little issue is easily remedied by the addition of a little milk. In all, this is a wonderful tea that is sure to satisfy your craving for chocolate.Chocolate Rocket

You can buy 50g of this tea for $7.00 at DavidsTea. Yum!

Watermelon

Watermelon is the fruit that I look forward to the most during the cold winter months. It is kind of like a the light at the end of the tunnel in the fruit world. When the time finally comes for you to put a slice of watermelon in your mouth, it is like coming home. Coming home to summer.

Watermelons are grown in south Africa. When you really stop and think about it, people should be very grateful that we have the economy we do today. If we did not have the economy that we have today then we would not be able to import the watermelons here to Canada. How sad would that be? So sad.

Watermelons are the fruit of summer. You can buy them at ay grocery store–at least all of the grocery stores that I have been to sell them. They are so good that I have been known to eat half a watermelon in two days. That has to be a record somewhere, don’t you think?

So go on and slice a watermelon. Share one with some friends or be greedy and keep it all to yourself. Either way is fine by me. Watermelon is such a tasty treat!

Chai Guarana

So today is the last review of black tea–at least it’s the last post on black tea associated with the contest that happened last week. I have to say that I have been exposed to a whole new world of tea through this experience. Flavoured black tea at least. So who knows? Maybe there will be more black tea reviews to come 🙂

Chai guarana is like red bull. In a much healthier form and way. At least to me. Quite seriously, I drank a mug of this tea and felt totally energetic all afternoon. And I had gotten up at 5:30am. How’s that for an energy drink?

Chai guarana has a delightful mix of Indian black tea, guarana, maté, cinnamon, ginger and anise. How fantabulous is that? 🙂 You can go buy your own 50 g of  Chai guarana at DavidsTea for $8.50.

Love Tea #7

Well, K is being a responsible student and studying for exams today, so Lieutenant L (Yes, I just gave myself a title) is writing up this review for Love Tea #7, 4 out of 5 in a series of black tea reviews.

Where do I start? I’m not exactly a huge fan of black tea (Oolong all the way!), but I must admit that this tea is pretty darn fabulous. Just think about it: luscious strawberries, gorgeous rose petals and, well, chocolatey chocolate… That sure got your attention, didn’t it? Forget its qualities as an aphrodisiac, its caffeine boost and the antioxidants- I plan to just keep drinking it for the sweet and refreshing flavour. It’s simply amazing either hot or iced; I consider this a must-have for the summer.

What are you waiting for? Head to your local DavidsTea right now and pick up 50g for $6.50!

P.S. I’m drinking it out of a tall glass. With a hot pink straw. Don’t even try to deny your jealousy.

Cream Earl

This will be number 3 out of 5 blog posts on black teas. Since I am not a particular fan of black teas, I had to go down to DavidsTea today and discover a new one. I’m glad that I did since now I have a favourtie black tea that is sure to keep me awake for hours. 🙂

Cream of Earl is a much tastier version of the basic Earl Grey tea. Now it’s not 100% black tea which could contribute to me actually enjoying it. All the same it is a tasty tea that I plan on drinking a lot of.

Cream of Earl Grey (organic)

Cream of Earl is a pleasant mix of black tea, cornflowers, vanilla flavour and bergamot oil. I credit the vanilla flavouring to its enticing smell. I would give this tea three out of five stars. It is a good tea if you feel as if you are about to fall asleep. However I feel as if you could find a much tastier tea if you would like to just sip.

You can purchase 50g of this tea at DavidsTea for $6.50. It is kosher and organic, so that can always be taken into consideration. Thanks for reading!

Kenyan Tinderet

Continuing the five posts on black tea, the second post will be on the black tea Kenyan Tinderet. This is one of the few straight black teas that I actually enjoy. The smell is slightly musky, the taste is a little bit smoky and the caffeine levels are very high. All of this combined makes this tea quite enjoyable.

Kenyan Tinderet

This tea is found in the Tinderet Estate in the highland’s of Kenya’s Rift Valley. It is mainly drunk as a luxury after a good meal. This tea is most definitely qualified to be a luxury! The only ingredient in this tea is black tea from the Tinderet Estate in Kenya. You can buy 50g of this tea for $7.00 at (where else?) DavidsTea. It’s fair trade and ethically produced so you can feel good about what your buying too!

By an overwhelming 2 votes black tea wins the contest! That means that 5 posts will be posted on different types of black teas until Thursday June 23. I hope you black tea drinkers enjoy the teas that will be posted on! Starting with today’s post on the black tea drinkers essential: orange pekoe tea.

Orange pekoe black tea in my opinion is quite bland. I have tried adding sugar and milk to my cup of orange pekoe tea numerous times in an effort to like it. Alas, it was not meant to be. In this blogger’s opinion orange pekoe tea is boring. It doesn’t even have a tantalizing smell to it.

If you were to ask my mother however, she loves orange pekoe tea with a passion. It is the only tea that she will drink. She regards all other types of tea simply as a “hot drink”. We differ quite largely on the topic of tea, as you can imagine.

You can purchase a box of orange pekoe tea at your local grocery store.  Thanks for reading!

Exotica

Caffeine free teas are pretty hard to find. Decaffeinated teas always have some caffeine in them. Black teas are the tastiest but there’s only so much caffeine that a person should have in a day. So when I discovered this Exotica tea I was overjoyed. This musky mix of lemongrass, pink peppercorn, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, pineapple, orange peel and coconut is delicious. It is also caffeine free! 🙂

Exotica

You can get this tea (where else?) at DavidsTea. 50g of this Kosher tea costs $6.50. I hope you enjoy it as much I do! Order it online right now at:

Grilled asparagus tastes like candy. Asparagus is my favourite vegetable and grilling vegetables is my favourite way to prepare vegeatbles. So what happens when my favourite way of preparing vegetables mixes with my favourite vegetable? My favourite side dish!

To prepare some grilled asparagus all you have to do is put some olive oil and kosher salt on some pieces of asparagus. Then you grill them over medium heat on a bbq for 12-15 minutes. Just like that you have vegetables that taste like candy!
