These chips are tasty and delicious. A perfect snack while watching a movie, or just to simply be a snack. They can be bought at most whole food stores, like Herb and Spice and Good Health Natural Foods. I tried these chips in the Barcelona BBQ flavour, but other flavours are available such as sea salt and chilean lime. Go give ’em a shot!
Chocolate Mug Cakes
March 30, 2011
Chocolate mug cakes are the easiest and one of the most delicious chocolate sponge cakes that I’ve ever had. They’re extremely easy to do, and if stirred properly, have an excellent result. I was first shown this recipe at my grandmother’s house. Me and my sister were staying over since both of my parent’s were out of town. As a fun dessert idea, she pulled out this recipe. We had so much fun making them that I asked her for the recipe.
Ever since, whenever I have friends over, I’m almost always asked if we can make these chocolate mug cakes. The only bad thing about these cakes is the clean up. If the mugs aren’t cleaned immediately after the cakes have been removed, the cake will begin to dry. This will make cleaning very unpleasant.
There can be many variations to this recipe as well. In the past, friends have poured caramel or chocolate sauce on top of their mug cakes for added flavour (and sugar!). I’ve also added chocolate covered almonds, white chocolate chips and caramel candies. Really anything can be added as long as it’s not too stark a difference in taste compared to the chocolate. For example, gummy bears aren’t advised to be added to these cakes.
The mug size for this recipe is rather important. Tall mugs with a medium width is ideal. Don’t use mugs that are very wide and short; your cake will spill over top of your mug. When microwaving your cake, I suggest putting a plate underneath your mug. That way you won’t burn your hand as you take out your mug.
