Hockey games bring our family together. Especially when the snack food is good. As we watched the hockey world junior game Canada vs. USA (congrats Canada!) we munched on this delicious popcorn. Sweet and sour popcorn is a family snack food favourite. Sweet and salty things always go together. Pretzels covered in chocolate. Caramel on top of some ice cream with sea salt sprinkled on top. Foie gras with ice wine to drink. Turkey and cranberry. The combinations are endless. And delicious.
Since my family loves this stuff so much, my mom decided that she’d try and make some herself instead of buying it from the store. Part of the reason why is because of all the sugar that is one bag of sweet and salty popcorn. Have you read the nutrition facts on those bags. I mean, woah. But this sweet and salty popcorn is amazing. Just 3 tablespoons or granulated sugar for 1-1/2 cups of popcorn kernels. My mom halved the recipe though, and it still made enough to fill a stock pot. So I’d suggest halving the recipe the first time that you make it. You have to make it though. Go. Now. Regardless of whether or not a hockey game is on, you have to make this popcorn. Here’s the link to the recipe on finecooking.com so that you can make it.Enjoy!
